External Hard Drive Hack?

Issue:

a. Laptop no longer recognizes an external hard drive on connection.

b. Laptop occasionally recognizes an external hard drive on connection (if you hold it a certain way).

Connection: USB 3.0 A to USB 3.0 Micro-B cable.

🤔this would have been useful when I bought the laptop…

Laptop ports: Definitely not USB 3.0. (suspiciously)

Solution:

A USB 3.0 hub like this fella, not a new cable — unless the problem really is your cable 🤷🏾‍♀️

Credit → tom’sHardware and a whole lot of Googling.

On the plus side, you get so many useful USB 3.0 ports 😁

Here’s why 👉🏾 About USB 3.0.

🤔 I’ll probably be back here soon.
